Eurovision Countdown

With a little over a month to go until Eurovision 2008, the excitement is building -- Georgian singer Diana launches a perfume, Azerbaijan's Elnur & Sanir go on tour, Eurovision launches a Youtube karaoke contest and several song entries (including Belgium's) are already doing well in their country's national charts. My money's still on Dustin the Turkey, because how can one not vote for a puppet?

Call them Ishtar

This just in: Ishtar will represent Belgium in this year's Eurovision Song Contest, following in the footsteps of Urban Trad by singing ín a made-up language. From the small clip I heard/saw, it sounds rather upbeat-Balkan-gypsy-folksy-groove-like.

Highlands high notes

Poultry in motion

This just in: Irish puppet Dustin the Turkey may be representing Ireland in this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Sandie Shaw (1967, "Puppet on a String") redux? Stay tuned! (And in case you were wondering, Belgium will pick its entry next month.)

Super Tuesday troopers

What better music for this Super Tuesday (not to mention Mardi Gras) than Abba's Super Trouper?

And don't forget their BELGIAN-themed 1974 Eurovision Song Contest award winning Waterloo!
